Happy in their dense thicket, the male and female figures of the H hold a heart between them. Protected by their impervious bond, they create an arbor of hope.
After I completed the alphabet letters, I approached writers and poets, inviting them to write poems or short stories to complement individual letters of the alphabet. One poet I specifically approached to write a poem for the H was because of the knowledge I had that she and her husband are so purely, devotedly in love with one another. Who else could speak to hearts and heartbreak than she? The poem she created, "Heartbreak to Happiness" published in "Alphabet Menagerie, the Crested Butte Debut" speaks to the heartfelt emotions of human hearts-hurting, healing, whole again.
